MURDER/ARMED ROBBERY

Wednesday, December 05 at approximately 3:25 AM, Athens-Clarke County Police Officers responded to an Armed Robbery at Lays Shell Station on the corner of Lexington Road and Gaines School Road. Upon arrival, Officers discovered a Murder/ Armed Robbery had occurred. ACCPD Detectives and the GBI Special Agents are currently conducting a thorough investigation. At this time Forensic Units from both Agencies are on the scene. The victim has been transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities are releasing a portion of the store’s surveillance video. Both Agencies are requesting the Public’s assistance in identifying the suspect or any additional information concerning this crime. A GBI forensic sketch artist has begun work on a sketch of the suspect. That sketch will be released upon completion.
The suspect is as a Black Male, approximately 5’9”-5’10”, wearing what appeared to be a dark hooded sweatshirt, a dark colored mask covering the lower portion of his face, pants and dark shoes.

An arson occurred on the morning of Saturday, December 3, 2005, at approximately 4:18 a.m., at the Tau Epsilon Pi fraternity house on the corner of Baxter Street and Hull Street. This is an on-campus fraternity house and serves as a residential facility for members of this organization. The arson caused extensive damage to the west wing of the building.

An armed robbery that occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m. on October 8, 2002 at the Tate Student Center Bulldog Cafe. There are two suspects described as black males, both wearing blue jeans, one approximately 5′8″ to 5″10″ in height and wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and the other wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt. Both were armed with handguns.

Assault which occurred Thursday, May 14, 1998 at approximately 3:45 p.m. on the fifth floor of Creswell Hall, UGA. The suspect is a black male 17-20 years of age, 5′9″ to 6′0″ tall, medium-heavy build with a dark complexion. At the time of the assault he was clean shaven and wearing an untucked white tee-shirt with red, black and blue lettering. He was carrying a white towel with yellow and blue stripes.

On Sunday, April 9, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. on River Road near East Campus Road a young lady was raped. The suspect is a black male, 20-26 years of age, medium build, about 5′9″ tall, with a light medium complexion. A ski mask and knife were used.
